Now, here’s some serious facts about shelter animals in the United States. Over 6 million pets enter shelters each year. About 710,000 of the strays out of that 6 million get reunited with their families, the majority of those being dogs.
25% of these shelter animals are purebreds that have been purchased from pet stores, breeders or catteries. When you do the math, that means about 1.5 million animals that were once sold for profit for their valuable genetics are sitting in cages, homeless, when not euthanized.
